Federer chooses Nadal to play with him in his last tennis match

It will be the last match for the Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer before his final retirement, in the doubles category in the Laver Cup competition next Friday, as he announced himself, expressing his hope that he will play it alongside his Spanish rival, Rafael Nadal.

Federer said at a press conference in London today, "It was an event that I did not want to disturb, but at the same time I know my limits and I asked Bjorn Borg (the captain of the European team) if it was possible to just play the doubles match, so it will happen on Friday evening."

"I am preparing to play the doubles match, we will know later which side. Of course I feel a little nervous because I haven't played for a long time and I hope to be competitive," after a two-month absence due to two knee surgeries, he added.

And if the identity of his doubles partner has not yet been announced, everyone dreams of playing alongside Nadal, and Federer said in this regard, "Of course, it would be a unique occasion if it happened."

"We have faced each other many times, but the respect is mutual," he added.

The European team, along with Nadal and Federer, consists of Serbian Novak Djokovic and Britain's Andy Murray, while the international team led by John McEnroe includes Canadian Felix Auger Eliassim, Argentina's Diego Schwarzman and American Fritz Taylor.
