Cannavaro returns to training from the gate of a humble team

Former international defender Fabio Cannavaro has returned to training from the Italian second division club Benevento, after the latter announced today his contract with him.

Cannavaro, who was crowned with his country's 2006 World Cup title in Germany, has been away from the technical management of clubs since his departure from the Chinese team Guangzhou Evergrande in September last year.

The 49-year-old returned in 2017 to his second adventure as a coach for Gwangju, who also supervised him in the 2014-2015 season.

But he failed to lead the team to any title, and after a short period of time, the club took the decision to change its administrative structure in a way that made the Italian without an effective force, so he made the decision to leave after the Chinese club's financial suffering increased.

Cannavaro returns to Italy to coach one of its teams for the first time in his coaching career, to succeed Fabio Caserta, who was sacked on Tuesday.

Benevento occupies thirteenth place after losing 3 of its first 6 matches this season.

Benevento did not reveal the details of Cannavaro's contract, while Italian media reported that he signed a contract until June 2024 and will receive 500,000 euros in his first season and one million euros in the second season.

Cannavaro has trained so far in China (Tianjin, Guangzhou and the Chinese team for only two matches) and Saudi Arabia (Victory) only.

Cannavaro was crowned with the Golden Ball for the best player in the world and the title of "world's best player in FIFA" in 2006, and he is the only defender to win the two awards, and also won the European Union Cup 1999 with Parma, in addition to two consecutive titles in the Spanish League with Real Madrid in 2007 and 2008 .
