For the past two years, SVT has shown national matches and qualifying matches with the women's and men's national handball teams.

Now SVT has secured the rights for a continued investment in autumn 2022 and spring 2023.

- The national handball teams are both sportingly successful and popular with our audience.

We are happy to be able to continue our investment in two of Sweden's most popular national teams, says SVT's sports director Åsa Edlund Jönsson.

The Swedish men's national team has had a couple of successful seasons in terms of results, with WC silver in 2021 in Egypt and EC gold in 2022 in Hungary.

The women's national team finished fourth at the Olympics and fifth at the WC 2021 and is now aiming for an EC final in November.

- That we can now continue to offer exciting national team handball in SVT feels absolutely right, and gives us the best conditions to show our women's and men's national team to the broad sports audience, says Stefan Lövgren, CEO of the Swedish Handball National Team AB.

In connection with the broadcasts during the autumn, a new face will appear in SVT's handball broadcasts: guest expert Mikaela Mässing.

The 28-year-old from Mölndal, with credentials as an international professional and playing in the national team, has paused his career due to injuries and is taking the opportunity to test the role of expert at SVT.

- It will be exciting and fun.

I have recent experience of handball at the elite level and hope to contribute with that perspective, says Mikaela Mässing.
