Last season's quarter-final series between HV71 and Modo developed into a real thriller that HV was finally able to take home with 2–1 in games.

Today they met again and for a long time it looked like Modo would get his revenge.

When half the game had been played, the visitors were leading 3–1 and purely in terms of play there was nothing to suggest that HV71 would get up, but after Sanni Hakala's reduction at the end of the second period, hope was lit for the home team and in the third period Mira Jungåker showed why she is considered one of Sweden's biggest hockey talents.

First she played until Jenna Raunio's equaliser, and then she came really close to deciding the match in regular time after Brooke Hobson was sent off at the end, but despite sending several dangerous pucks against Modokassen, the match went to a penalty shootout.

Once there, Jungåker showed that she has control over both nerves and stick when she coolly sent her penalty between Modo goalkeeper Lauren Bench's legs.

The goal was the only one of the shootout and thus HV71 took the first victory of the season after losing the opener against Luleå.
