Malin Josefsson with Golden Midnight was the first out of the Swedish riders on Saturday.

She made a good time, but tore at the 18th hurdle.

As it is the top three results for each nation that count, the demolition mattered less.

The three other Swedish crews were flawless.

Sofia Sjöberg with Bryjamolga van het Marienshof Z was just over the optimum time of nine minutes and 50 seconds.

- It felt very good.

I'm very happy that I was able to come home flawless, says Sjöberg to SVT Sport.

Aminda Ingulfson followed up and made a good championship debut with Joystick – 24 seconds behind the time.

Strong finish

Last out of the Swedes was Frida Andersén with Box Leo.

The team was only five seconds behind, a strong finish to the day for Sweden.

- She is a truly world-class rider.

We couldn't afford any mistakes, she's doing great, says national team captain Fredrik Bergendorff to SVT Sport.

The three flawless rides mean that Sweden advances in the overall to eighth place, a position better than the final position at the WC four years ago when Sweden came ninth.

- The horses look good.

We usually jump well and normally we can climb a bit on the jump so we'll see how it goes.

Germany takes the lead ahead of the US and New Zealand.

Swedes excluded

Niklas Lindbäck was the best Swede individually during yesterday with 27th place.

However, an incident at water hazard 24 during the off-road race saw him disqualified.

After the day, the jury will look further at the photos and decide if it remains.

On Sunday, both the team competition and the individual competition with show jumping will be decided, which will be broadcast on SVT Sport starting at 11.15.
