This is how the SHL will be played in the 2022/23 season:

The league is played in 52 rounds between 17 September and 9 March.

The top six teams go directly to the quarter-finals.

Teams seven to ten play round of 16.

Teams eleven and twelve have finished playing for the season, while the last two teams qualify in the best of seven games to stay in the SHL.

The Round of 16 is played in the best of three games, while the rest of the playoffs are played in the best of seven games.

Several people have expressed that it is a growing problem, and ahead of the season, the league's head referee Thomas Throsbrink has visited all the clubs and talked to them about the problem.

- Djurgården left the SHL last season, which means that the capital Stockholm is now without an SHL team.

Lasse Johansson – Frölunda

- The goalkeeper is back in Frölunda again after one season in the AHL, and then five in the KHL.

During the five years in the KHL, he had the lowest number of goals conceded per game four times.
