A long and successful career is over.

Roger Federer managed to win 20 grand slam titles, the third most of all time, before he announced yesterday that the Laver Cup in London, which starts next Friday, will be his last tournament.

- He was tough to face, the first time I was very disappointed, then he had not made it through.

I felt "I'm going to win this match", but then he broke through right after when he beat Sampras at Wimbledon.

How would you describe his playing style?

- In terms of play, he was so good at taking the ball on the bounce, no one had played like that before, he says and continues:

- He was the elegant gentleman, perfect in most things.

But above all, he was by far the best tennis ambassador we ever had.

He always greeted everyone in the dressing room.

This is what tennis will be like without Federer

Maria Strandlund Tomsvik has followed Federer's career as a commentator.

- I find it difficult to find someone who has played tennis so beautifully and successfully, and been such a role model as he has been off the court.

An incredible gentleman on and off the court.

How do you think tennis will be now, without Federer on the court?

- It will be interesting, Nadal is a little injured and is going to be a father.

Djokovic can get a little set table.

There is a shift going on in tennis, which you thought would come a little sooner, but these three have continued to be dominant.
