WBC light flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji and WBA super champion Hiroto Kyoguchi will unify the title on November 1st.

This is the second unification match between Japanese players after 10 years.

This was announced at a press conference attended by WBC = World Boxing Council Champion Teraji and WBA = World Boxing Association Super Champion Kyoguchi.

Terachi suffered his first defeat in the title match for the 9th defense last September and was deprived of the throne, but half a year later in March he won the same opponent and returned to the throne.

On the other hand, Kyoguchi is undefeated in 16 games since his professional debut in 2016, and defended his title for the fourth time at the World Championships held in Mexico in June.

The unification match between the two will take place on November 1st in Saitama City.

This is the second time in 10 years that the unification match between Japanese players will be the first in 10 years since the unification match between WBC minimumweight champion Higashi Yaegashi and WBA minimumweight champion Kazuto Ioka.

The two had played against each other in their amateur days, and Terachi won with 3 wins and 1 loss.

Terachi said, "We were in the same weight class, so I had something in mind. It's my first time playing the main role in a big match, so I'm looking forward to it. This match will be really important."

Kyoguchi said, "I thought it was a card that Japanese people wanted. I was conscious of it and I was in a position to chase it, so I finally made it happen. I want to make the game exciting."

It was also announced that Shokichi Iwata, the world's second-ranked WBO light flyweight, will face Puerto Rican champion Jonathan Gonzalez in a title match.

Since his debut, Iwata has not lost in nine matches.
