The first edition of the Uefa Nations League was played in 2018/2019.
The international football association Uefa introduced the tournament with the ambition to replace previous training matches with competition matches where national teams with comparable rankings meet each other.
According to Spanish Relevo, the Nations League is planned to be introduced for the women's national team as well.
The concept will be similar to that of the men's side where the tournament takes place every two years.
The Swedish men's national team plays in the second division.
As recently as 2020, Sweden played in the A division.
