PSG provides the essentials

Between two Champions League matches, the capital club won at home against Brest (1-0) on the seventh day of Ligue 1. Neymar confirmed his excellent start to the season by opening the score at the half-hour mark. The Parisians dominated the first hour of play but had some scares at the end of the match, Gianluigi Donnarumma notably deflecting a penalty from Islam Slimani.

In the standings, Paris regains the lead, left a few hours to RC Lens, but remains closely followed by Marseille, second on goal difference after their victory against Lille (2-1), while Lens closes the podium.

For its part, Monaco, beating Olympique Lyonnais (2-1), repositioned itself in seventh place in the league, two lengths behind OL (5th, 13 pts).

Real Madrid take the lead

In the absence of Karim Benzema, injured in the right leg, Real Madrid dominated Mallorca 4-1 on Sunday for the 5th day of La Liga, and regained the lead in the standings ahead of FC Barcelona.

The people of Madrid first conceded a headed goal signed Vedat Muriqi, after a free kick at the far post (35th), then replied thanks to a personal exploit by Fede Valverde, who propelled a ball into the left corner after a slalom in the defense (45th + 3).

Vinicius gave Real the lead in the 73rd minute after a breakout from Rodrygo, who made it 3-1 by sneaking through the defense in the 89th minute.

In additional time (90 + 2), Antonio Rüdiger sealed the victory by placing his flat foot at the far post, on the fall of a free kick.

For their part, Barça dominated Cadiz 4-0 on Saturday.

The Catalans opened the scoring on the return from the locker room thanks to Frenkie De Jong, present in the right place to push into the cages a shot deflected by goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma (55th).

The inevitable Robert Lewandowski then doubled the bet in the 65th, when De Jong took a shot that was still stopped by the goalkeeper, before offering the third goal on a plateau to Ansu Fati (86th).

In additional time, Ousmane Dembélé, who entered in 57th place in place of Ferran Torres, sealed the success with a hook concluded by a shot deflected into his own goal by the opposing goalkeeper (90th + 2).

Bayern still in slow motion

Bayern Munich recorded a third consecutive draw in the Bundesliga on Saturday at home against Stuttgart (2-2) on the 6th day.

The cleaver finally fell.

After two goals from Serhou Guirassy canceled for faults upstream on Joshua Kimmich (51st and 79th), the Munich residents were joined in stoppage time. At fault, Matthijs De Ligt conceded a penalty converted by Guirassy (90th + 2), a logical outcome as Munich, always looking for fluidity in front, lacked sharpness.

The defending champions sit third in the standings, two points behind leaders Union Berlin.

The capital club finds itself alone at the top of the Bundesliga thanks to its victory in Cologne 1-0, but also to the draw of the former leader Freiburg, hung on its lawn by Mönchengladbach (0-0).

Premier League suspended after Queen's death

Following the announcement of the Queen's death on Thursday, the Premier League decided to postpone all weekend fixtures as a mark of respect to Elizabeth II, highlighting "her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation".

The Premier League took this decision even though the British government considered that the postponement of sports competitions was not obligatory in this period of national mourning, which did not fail to arouse criticism in particular from former players who there see a "missed opportunity" to pay him a last tribute.

Juventus hooked

Juventus, led two to zero, snatched the equalizer against Salernitana (2-2) Sunday in Turin after a match marked by four exclusions.

Juve, voluntary, but messy, was punished by the players of Salerno on a goal from veteran Antonio Candreva (18th) as well as a penalty from Piatek (45 + 4th).

More biting after the break, they first reduced the gap thanks to a furious header from Bremer (51st) then by his captain Bonucci victoriously resuming his shot after seeing his penalty repelled by the visitors' goalkeeper (90 + 4th).

Three days before their Champions League match against Benfica, the Turinese, who remain stuck in 8th place in their championship, were not reassured.

They even messed up their football and showed the face of a team in crisis of confidence.

At the top of the standings, Naples is tied on points with Atalanta Bergamo and AC Milan.
