Right at the start of the NFL season, the brothers Equanimeous and Amon-Ra St. Brown caused jubilation and a novelty with a touchdown each.

Never before in the history of the league have two German professionals scored points in the National Football League on the same day - and certainly not in such a short time.

"That's cool, my mother texted me and said it was only three minutes between the two touchdowns," said Amon-Ra St. Brown of the German Press Agency.

The 25-year-old Equanimeous St. Brown and the Chicago Bears beat the favored San Francisco 49ers 19:10 and scored the important lead to 13:10 in the meantime.

"I'm very satisfied.

It was a bit difficult because of the rain, but we won the game and I got a touchdown," he said.

“That was very important.

That's how I can get momentum and benefit from it.” After the generally difficult time with the Green Bay Packers, it was his first main round game for the Bears.

"I'm very happy for him"

"He was four years in Green Bay and injured a lot and only had one touchdown.

It's a new beginning for him and he scored a touchdown in the first game, so I'm very happy for him," said 23-year-old Amon-Ra St. Brown.

With a total of eight passes caught for 64 yards, he himself was the most successful receiver for the Lions, confirming the strong performances at the end of last season when he had managed a total of six touchdowns in the last six games.

Because in the end it wasn't enough to win the 35:38 against the Philadelphia Eagles, he was still dissatisfied: "We wanted to win the game, I think we could have done it too."

The start was not ideal for the third German football professional in the league either.

Jakob Johnson from Stuttgart lost 19:24 with the Las Vegas Raiders at the Los Angeles Chargers.

"It's hard to start like this, you don't choose it.

The only thing you can get out of it is: What do you learn from it," he said after his main round debut for the Raiders after three years with the New England Patriots.

At least the small boost from the two St. Brown touchdowns for the rapidly growing enthusiasm for football in Germany made Johnson happy: "Sport is entertainment and the fans like the highlights - so it's good when the German boys are involved in the highlights ."

Tom Brady is back after comeback

Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers around superstar Tom Brady won their opening game in the NFL against the Dallas Cowboys and underpinned their claims this season.

The most successful professional in NFL history threw a touchdown pass at 19: 3 on Sunday evening (local time) and for a total of 212 yards.

A further 48-yard pass to new signing Julio Jones was remarkable – the 45-year-old hadn't thrown that far since joining the Buccaneers two years ago.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion Brady initially ended his career after last season, but announced his comeback after just 40 days.

“Every time you step onto the field, there is something to prove.

It's a brutal game, you have to be prepared for that," Brady told NBC.

There aren't many places where he can just be one of many.

"In the dressing room, I'm definitely just one of the guys," he said.

Mike Evans caught the only touchdown pass spectacularly with one hand, but kicker Ryan Succop had the most points in the game, converting four field goals for a total of twelve points and scoring an extra point.

In addition to the defeat, the Cowboys also have to worry about their quarterback situation.

Dak Prescott was injured, needs surgery and will be out for weeks, according to team owner Jerry Jones.

Tough start for Green Bay

Before that, the Kansas City Chiefs, led by a strong Patrick Mahomes, dominated the Arizona Cardinals and won 44:21.

Despite the departure of key teammates from last season, like pass receiver Tyreek Hill, to the Miami Dolphins, Mahomes had five touchdowns and threw 30 passes for 360 yards.

Hill won with the Dolphins 20-7 against the New England Patriots and caught eight passes, but had no points of his own.

In the first game after longtime quarterback Ben Roethlisberger retired, the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated Super Bowl entrants Cincinnati Bengals.

After extra time, the Steelers made it 23:20, Roethlisberger successor Mitchell Trubisky played unobtrusively and very solidly with passes for 194 yards and a touchdown without a miss.

At the other end, four passes from Bengals playmaker Joe Burrow landed on the opposition.

Like last season, the Green Bay Packers got off to a rough start, conceding a 7:23 loss to division rivals Minnesota Vikings.

Without the pass receiver Davante Adams, who migrated to the Las Vegas Raiders, quarterback star Aaron Rodgers lacked safe passing stations in attack and more than one touchdown pass did not jump out.
