A Moroccan letter to the Federation described the events as "unsportsmanlike and brutal", expressing its astonishment at the "complete absence of security in the presence of a large crowd and fraught conditions before and during the match."

The Federation condemned the "brutal and barbaric incidents that were subjected to the players of the (Moroccan) national team by the opponents (Algerian) players and the fans who stormed the field."
