Morocco's Nahde Berkane won the African Super Cup for the first time in its history, after beating its compatriot Wydad Casablanca 2-0 in the final match held at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Sharqi El Bahri opened the scoring for Nahda Berkane with a superb header in the 32nd minute, and Sofiane El Mouden added the second goal from a penalty kick.

This is the third title this year for the Renaissance Berkane, as it previously won the African Confederation Cup, and also won the Moroccan Throne Cup on penalties at the expense of Wydad as well.

Al-Bahri gave Nahdet Berkane the lead when he converted Hamza Al-Moussawi's pass from the left with a header to the left of goalkeeper Ahmed Reda Al-Taknaouti.

Wydad, the champions of the Champions League, tried to compensate, but goalkeeper Hamza Al-Hamyani pushed the ball away from Yahya Gibran and then a shot from Yahya Attia Allah at the end of the first half.

Wydad pressed in the second half and took advantage of the renaissance of Berkane spaces to get Shadrac Muzongo a penalty kick, which was successfully executed by Almoden.

Algerian referee Mustafa Gharbal awarded a penalty kick to Wydad after the fall of substitute Mohamed Onajem, but he canceled it after reviewing the incident on a screen outside the stadium after a request from the video assistant referee.

The matter was repeated when Gherbal awarded a second penalty to Nahdet Berkane, before the video referee intervened to cancel it as well.

Nahdet Berkane had previously played the African Super match, when he lost in the 2021 edition against Al-Ahly of Egypt 0-2 in the Qatari capital, Doha.
