Financial details of Icardi's departure from Saint-Germain to Galatasaray

Argentine striker Mauro Icardi has moved to Turkish side Galatasaray on loan from French champions Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season, the two clubs announced Thursday.

Icardi, 29, is leaving Paris after two disappointing seasons in the French capital.

The player and his family were greeted by a crowd of fans on Wednesday evening at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, 24 hours before the transfer market closed in Turkey.

Galatasaray announced in a statement that it will pay 750,000 euros of the player's annual salary of 6.75 million euros.

After joining Saint-Germain on loan from Italian Inter in 2019, Icardi, who was founded in Barcelona, had strong beginnings, which prompted the management of the Qatari-owned capital club to sign him permanently in 2020 for a deal estimated at 50 million euros.

However, his tense relationship with his wife and his agent, Wanda Nara, greatly affected his adventure in Saint-Germain, to lose his main position in the squad and content himself with the crumbs of the minutes.

The former Sampdoria (2011-2013) and Inter (2013-2020) striker scored 38 goals in 92 matches for Saint-Germain in various competitions, only five of them last season.

Galatasaray, the most decorated club in Turkey, ranked thirteenth in the league last season, in the worst ranking in its history.
