Brighton led by the former Östersund coach Graham Potter, on his way to Chelsea, has gone like a train at the beginning of the season and is currently fourth in the table.

Britain's railways have been beset by major concerns in recent weeks, with staff protesting that wages have not kept up with rampant inflation.

There are planned strikes for train staff and that saw Brighton approach the Premier League to have the game postponed, which was granted.

"We have taken into account how difficult it would be for fans from both clubs to watch the game without access to the rail network and we looked at a number of options and different contingency plans," Brighton writes on its website.

Brighton looked at different options the same weekend where Sunday 18 September was absolutely the last match day depending on the national team break that comes into effect the following week but couldn't get the planning together.

No new date has been announced.
