Hanna Glas was there when the national team gathered in Visby for the final World Cup qualifying match against Finland and the training matches against Denmark and Norway.

After the 29-year-old defender received a call, she left the group on Saturday and now it is clear that Glas, who plays everyday for Bayern Munich, is forced to undergo an operation that will keep her out of action for the rest of the season.

Through her agency, Glas announces that she aims to be back for next year's World Cup which will be played in Australia and New Zealand starting on July 20.

- I am extremely grateful for the wonderful support I have received and all the people I have around me.

I am so sorry to have to miss this season like this, and not be able to be on the football field.

I know exactly what work will be required and I have the best possible help around me to ensure I am more than ready for the WC next year,” she says.

Glas has a tough injury history behind him and has previously injured his cruciate ligament three times, most recently in 2015.

SVT is looking for Glas for a comment.
