The competition was actually supposed to be decided last year but was postponed due to the pandemic.

A total of nine Swedes are registered for the competition November 3-6 in the high mountains outside Chiang Mai, which is the country's second largest city with 700,000 inhabitants - after the capital Bangkok, 70 miles to the south.

The course has a total climb of 2,777 metres, with two substantial climbs of just over 1,000 meters dominating.

Three orienteering championships at home in Dalarna

Before that, Alexandersson will participate in three SMs in orienteering at home in Dalarna over the next few weekends.

However, she has been hampered by injuries.

- I haven't been able to run in the forest as much as I wanted because I've had problems with my hamstrings, but I hope I'm sufficiently prepared, writes Alexandersson on his Instagram.

Alexandersson's WC gold record, so far, is 17 gold in orienteering, ten in ski orienteering, one in ski alpinism and one in sky running.

The difference between sky running and trail is that the latter has more difficult terrain to push through.

Both sky running and trail running are a form of cross-country running.
