Football fans will have to spend even more money in the new Champions League season than in the previous season.

In order to have free choice in the three European competitions that start with the group stage this week, even three subscriptions are necessary.

Where can you watch the Champions League matches?

Two subscriptions are required for the so-called premier class of football.

Like last season, DAZN and Amazon show the Champions League.

Amazon customers can watch a selected game on Tuesday via the Prime Video offer.

Borussia Dortmund's match against FC Copenhagen starts off (6.45 p.m. also in the FAZ live ticker for the Champions League).

DAZN shows all other games.

The fee-based Internet provider has acquired the rights package with a total of 121 live games and also shows conferences.

At the start of the group phase, the game between RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk (9 p.m.) can be seen.

On Wednesday, DAZN will show three German games: Eintracht Frankfurt's first appearance in the Champions League at Sporting Lisbon (6.45 p.m.) as well as FC Bruges against Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan against Bayern Munich (both 9 p.m.).

How much do the streaming service subscriptions cost?

DAZN has again significantly increased the price for the new season.

The streaming service costs EUR 29.99 per month, which is almost twice as expensive as last season.

If you also want to watch the respective Champions League game on Amazon, you need the Prime subscription for 8.99 euros, which was also cheaper in the previous season at 7.99 euros.

Which fans can save?

Supporters of Leipzig and Leverkusen can be annoyed by Amazon's disregard.

Your team's group stage match will not be broadcast on Prime Video.

On the other hand, the fans of lawn ball sports and Bayer can be happy because they only need one subscription for the six preliminary round games of their team, at least for the time being.

Which Champions League games can you watch live for free?

The range of moving images of the most important club competition on free-to-air television is still scarce.

ZDF is allowed to broadcast the final live and also shows highlights.

On a total of 14 match days, the second offers summaries on Wednesdays from 11 p.m.

What can fans see in pubs?

Fans must find out beforehand which pub is broadcasting which games.

Sky does not own any rights, but offers Prime Video's live games in the sports bars with contracts after an agreement with Amazon.

Pubs that also want to show their customers the other games need an additional contract with DAZN.

Where to watch the Europa and Conference League?

Supporters of SC Freiburg, 1. FC Union Berlin and 1. FC Köln do not need Amazon or DAZN.

The television home of the Europa League and the Conference League is the RTL Group.

The games of the two competitions will be shown on RTL, on the niche channel Nitro and on the in-house streaming service RTL+.

To start with, RTL will be showing SC Freiburg's game against Qarabag Agdam on linear television from 9 p.m.

From 11 p.m. there will be summaries of the other games.

On the Internet portal RTL+, on the other hand, the Cologne conference game at OGC Nice and Union Berlin against Union St. Giloise, as well as other selected games, can be played for a fee.

How much do Europa League and Conference League cost?

RTL+ has also become more expensive.

A subscription to the streaming service for ten months (Season Pass) costs EUR 49.90.

In the pre-season it still cost 34.99 euros.

There is still an offer for 29.90 euros, which is valid until September 15th.
