Liverpool FC is still not gaining momentum in the English Premier League.

In the Merseyside derby at Everton, coach Jürgen Klopp's club only managed a 0-0 draw on Saturday.

With the third draw after six matchdays, the Reds remain only in the middle of the table.

Local rivals Everton are still waiting for their first win of the season.

Uruguayan soccer star Darwin Núñez was able to play for the Klopp team again after his suspension expired.

But the hosts had the first chance: Everton professional Tom Davies hit the post with his outside instep (32nd minute).

At the other end, England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford deflected an attempt by Núñez onto the crossbar.

Immediately afterwards, Luis Díaz hit the ball against the post (41').

After the change of sides, there were numerous chances for both sides.

Everton's Pickford made two saves from Roberto Firmino (64') and then Fabinho (65').

Neal Maupay failed free-standing to Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson (65th).

The Brazilian was also there against Dwight McNeil (84').

Mohamed Salah had the greatest chance of scoring the winning goal: But Pickford deflected the ball from the Liverpool striker again to the post (90 + 5).

Celtic outclass Rangers

The Scottish football champions Celtic Glasgow meanwhile won the 431st edition of the traditional city derby "Old Firm" against arch-rivals Rangers in an impressive manner 4-0 (3-0) and thus also won their sixth game of the season.

Celtic's goals came from Liel Abada (8', 40'), Jota (31') and David Turnbull (78').

In the table, the "Hoops" are clearly at the top with 18 points and are already five points ahead of the Rangers.

In front of 60,411 spectators in a sold-out Celtic Park, the home side got off to a better start and took the lead early on through Israeli Abada (8').

Inspired by the quick opening goal, the Bhoys in Green played the guests, who played with Bayern Munich's loanee Malik Tillman in the starting line-up, against the wall at times.

A few days before the start of the Champions League group phase, the team of team manager Ange Postecoglou is well prepared for the duel on Tuesday (9 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the Champions League) with defending champions Real Madrid.
