The former world No.4, who arrived in New York crowned with her title at the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati, will face the Canadian Bianca Andreescu (48th), winner at Flushing Meadows in 2019, or the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad (15th).
Garcia can make his stats lie
At 28, the Lyonnaise is participating in her tenth US Open, where she has never gone beyond the third round.
The New York Major is the least successful for her since she reached the round of 16 in the other three (Australian Open, Roland-Garros and Wimbledon) and reached the quarter-finals at Roland-Garros in 2017 In great shape, Caroline Garcia could therefore change her statistics in the next round.
