Hopes were high for Fridolina Rolfö ahead of the football European Championships in England.

She came to the championship as a Diamond Ball winner and with a brilliant performance in last year's Olympics behind her.

However, the EC was not completely successful for the 28-year-old.

There was only one goal.

- It was obviously tough, especially receiving criticism.

I want so incredibly much.

I still thought it was okay, but I have high demands on myself, says Rolfö to SVT Sport.

According to confederation captain Peter Gerhardsson, it may have been due, among other things, to the fact that the opponents chose to put extra focus on marking out Rolfö.

But the fact that Rolfö, who plays as a striker in the national team, on a daily basis at home in the club team Barcelona plays as a left-back may also have contributed to that.

"Perhaps getting hit in the offensive game"

In the EC, she was one of the players who had the best defensive statistics, while the forward scoring yield was not as great.

- I had to do a lot of defensive work and I have strengths in my defensive game as well, I put a lot of energy into it.

Which means that you might get hit in the offensive game.

Rolfö admits that the transition from club team to national team can be difficult.

- It is mostly my positioning that has been very different.

I have played as a fullback and been on the edge all season, while here in the national team I have been central.

As a central player, I get to cut in and finish a lot more, while on the edge there are more crosses and one-on-ones.

The things I train in Barcelona I don't do in the national team, says Rolfö.
