"I'm still leaving the option open to add a tournament in Europe that's a bit closer to my family and friends - but in general this is my last tournament here," said the 34-year-old in an interview with the ARD "Sportschau “.

In 2011, after two quarterfinals at the Australian Open and the US Open, she reached her best place in the world rankings with ninth place.
The Darmstadt native celebrated her greatest success in Paris in 2014 when she was only eliminated in the semi-finals of the French Open.
With the German Fed Cup team she was in the final in 2014, which was lost to the Czech Republic.
