Sweden won just two of six matches in the first round of World Cup qualifying, then fell to Germany in the first match of the second round on Thursday.

But against Israel, the team stood up strongly and got a long-awaited victory, which means that Sweden's chances of making it to the World Cup improve significantly.

- A lead-heavy victory, states Rajacic.

After two periods, Sweden had created a 52-38 lead in Tel Aviv.

But in the third the fine form began to waver.

Israel won the period and before the last period the Swedish lead had decreased slightly - to 70-60.

There was a shudder after that.

Israel held the baton in the beginning and reduced to 66-70, but among other things a class action by Tobias Borg would mean that Sweden's leadership stood.

The Swedish men would manage to extend their lead again and eventually won 95–83.

Borg was the top scorer in Sweden, with a total of 20 points.

In Israel, it was Yam Madar that reaped the most, a total of 25 points.

Blågult was still missing key player Ludvig Håkanson due to injury.

In the ongoing second round of World Cup qualification, Sweden faces Germany, Estonia and Israel twice in total in August, November and February (2023) and the top three teams in the group, which also includes Finland, Slovenia and Estonia, advance to the World Cup .
