Accident Fernando Alonso, to Hamilton after his crash: "What an idiot!"
Narration This is how we live the race
Drivers World Ranking
How superior would
Max Verstappen
be that even starting 14th he was the main favorite in the Belgian Grand Prix.
Spa-Francorchamps lends itself to so many crazy things, Red Bull dominated in such a way, and the Dutchman is so sweet, that even
Carlos Sainz
pointed to him when asked about his first place on the starting grid.
"I don't like that difference," the Madrid native feared.
And there was no brake for Verstappen, who starting 14th won with enormous authority.
Sainz, feisty, withstood
Russell
's harassment to save third position.
[Narration and classification]
It is the third victory in a row for Max Verstappen, which further strengthens his leadership in the Formula 1 World Championship. The Dutchman is already more than 100 points ahead (four entire races) over his teammate
Checo Pérez,
second in Belgium and again second in the world Cup.
The Belgian circuit, recently renovated for 2023, did not take two laps to make its fame good.
In the fight for the leading positions,
Lewis Hamilton
tried to close the door on
Fernando Alonso
where there was space and ended up running over him in the Les Combes area, between the seventh and eighth turns.
The Briton finished out of the race and the Spaniard, although he managed to hold on, lost the position to Russell.
"What an idiot! He has closed me off. We had started very well, but this guy only knows how to drive when he is first," Alonso shouted on the radio.
That position was no longer going to recover it.
The Spaniard crossed the finish line in sixth position, but a five-second penalty on Leclerc for speeding in the pits gave him the final fifth position.
