Shooting World Championships List Produces National Rifle Team Youth Excited
With the conclusion of the last women's 50m rifle three-position competition in the trials, the national rifle shooting team's lineup for the Cairo World Championships was all formed.
The "post-00s" became the main force, and young athletes showed a gratifying upward momentum in the competition.
Starting from the 2022 National Shooting Championships that ended in Putian, Fujian in early March, the National Pistol Shooting Team has held 4 trials. After that, 8 athletes will be selected for each event to prepare for the Cairo World Championships according to the total points.
Since then, after two trials in Beijing and Nanjing, and the total points of the 6 trials, all the national team's lineup for the Cairo World Championships was formed.
In the rifle project, Huang Yuting, Zhang Yu, and Wang Zhilin were selected for the women's 10-meter air rifle list, and Huang Yuting and Zhang Yu were also selected for the 10-meter air rifle mixed team lineup.
Entering the men's 10m air rifle list are Olympic champion Yang Haoran, Sheng Lihao and Song Buhan. Yang Haoran and Sheng Lihao are also on the mixed team list.
In the 50-meter rifle three-position lineup, the male players include Liu Yukun, Olympic champion Zhang Changhong and Zhao Zhonghao, and the female players are Miao Wanru, Shi Mengyao, and Zhang Qiongyue.
In the pistol event, Li Xue and Olympic champion Jiang Ranxin were both selected into the women's 10-meter air pistol and 10-meter air pistol mixed team lineup. The other one who won the 10-meter air pistol seat was Lu Kaiman.
Liu Jinyao and Zhang Bowen won the men's 10-meter air pistol and 10-meter air pistol mixed team seats, and Zhang Yifan got another qualification for the men's 10-meter air pistol.
In the men's 25m pistol rapid-fire event, Li Yuehong, Lu Zhiming and Zhang Jueming were selected, while Liu Rui, Chen Yan and Xiao Jiaruixuan entered the women's 25m pistol competition list.
The younger age composition is a prominent feature of this list, with "post-00s" occupying the main position, and "post-04" and "post-05" are also beginning to emerge.
This feature is particularly evident in the women's 10-meter air rifle and 10-meter air pistol events. The six selected athletes are all "post-00s", of which Wang Zhilin is 18 years old, and the youngest Huang Yuting will turn 16 next month.
Sheng Lihao and Zhang Qiongyue were both teenagers born in 2004, and Xiao Jiaruixuan just turned 20.
The emergence of these outstanding young athletes has strengthened the healthy competition of the national team, and also reflects the thickness of the rifle lineup in the Paris Olympic cycle.
Wang Lian, deputy director of the Shooting Sports Center, said that the goal of training and selecting athletes was achieved through the competition, especially the young athletes showed great momentum and achieved outstanding results.
In addition, the schedule of the final trials was set as close as possible to the World Championships in terms of competition time, venue environment and transition process, creating an environment for athletes to simulate the actual combat of the World Championships.
The 10 Olympic events in this competition also adopted the method of superimposing the national championships in the trials, and the final lineup was generated in the same qualifying match. The finals of the trials and the finals of the national championships were held separately. Many high-level players need to deal with the challenges of continuous participation. After the trials, the national shooting team will go to the Chengde Damshang training base for physical adjustment training, and then return to Beijing for the final training before the World Championships.
