FC Vaduz has had both a catastrophic fall and an absolutely fantastic start to the season.

On the one hand, the team from the small country of Liechtenstein is second to last in the Swiss second division, on the other hand, they have achieved the club's greatest success of all time.

By winning the cup in Liechtenstein, the team from Vaduz (almost 6,000 inhabitants) got a place in the qualifiers for the third European tournament, the Europa Conference League.

Once there, they first knocked out Slovenian Koper, then Turkish Konyaspor and tonight the Austrian big club Rapid Wien.

The first meeting with the Vienna team ended 1-1, but away from home, 30-year-old Swiss Tunahan Cicek became a great hero with the only goal of the match.

The advancement to the group stage means that for the first time in the country's history, Liechtenstein has a team in a European group stage.

The groups in the Europa Conference League are drawn on Friday.
