Peter Gerhardsson's squad selection contained a lot of changes compared to this summer's EC squad.

Among the newcomers was Häcken's fullback Hanna Wijk.

Wijk made a big success for his Häcken right after the summer break.

The 18-year-old scored two goals in seven minutes and shortly afterwards an assist against Kif Örebro.

And on Tuesday, the reward came when her name was on Gerhardsson's squad list.

- I hadn't expected it, and hadn't heard anything about it before.

It was a shock, says Wijk and continues:

- I was on my way home from training, sat in the car and listened to the live broadcast.

It almost took some time to understand it.

It's a big goal I've had and it's going to be great fun.

I was super happy.

Not current for the WC qualifying match

In the selected squad there are several club friends from Häcken, including Jennifer Falk and Elin Rubensson.

- It means a lot.

I have already spoken to the players a bit and they will be a great support for me there and I know I can always talk to them.

It feels very safe.

Next week, the squad gathers for camp on Gotland before the final World Cup qualifying match away to Finland on September 6, which will be broadcast on SVT.

However, the idea is that neither Hanna Wijk nor Matilda Vinberg (Hammarby) will play the match against Finland.

Instead, the duo will take part in the U23 international against Belgium on September 2 and the meeting with Spain three days later.
