Men's length: 8.25 meters.

Ladies' height: 6.85 metres.

Men's height: 2.32 meters.

These are some of the very tough qualification limits for the WC in Budapest next year that have recently been published.

Long jumper Thobias Montler, who took EC silver in the championships in Munich that ended yesterday, has a personal best that is two centimeters above the WC qualification limit.

He thinks the limit is a bit tough.

- I think it's okay that they have a high limit, but it's a bit high right now.

You could have stayed around 8.20 so you could have brought a few more, he says.

The tough qualification limits will mean that fewer will qualify in that way and thus more will go via the International Athletics Federation's ranking.

If you qualify via ranking, you will receive the notification much later, as the qualifying period only ends on July 30 next year.

- It is a negative thing, if you yourself are affected.

You want to start the season planning with competitions and the like quite early.

And if you don't pass the limit, you will be taken out later.

It has an impact on layout and planning, says Montler.

He doesn't think it will be a problem for him anyway.

- If you open the season a little worse, you have to start working on it.

Then it can clearly affect me.

But if I open as I usually do, there shouldn't be any problems.

Then I will still be in the Diamond League and so on, he says.

Montler has two competitions left this season – the Finnkampen and the Diamond League final in Zurich.

It is important to recharge after a summer with both the WC and EC.

- You start to feel that the body shuts down a little more and more all the time, says Montler.
