American Robson leads the Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival

The American Grand Prix, Ray Robson, led the overall standings of the "Masters" championship, in the 28th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival.

Robson managed to reach the top with 4.5 points, after his victory in the fifth round over his Romanian counterpart Dieter Nesbiano, while the rest of the competitors tied for the first 10 tables, and their balance stopped at four points.

More than 1,100 players from 55 countries are participating in the competitions of the 28th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival, competing in 11 diverse tournaments, with total prizes of 300,000 dirhams.

Within the "Open Championship" competitions, four players topped the standings with four points, and they are Sultan Ibrahim and Ahmed Farid from the Emirates, and Rahwit, and Amav Hamishwari from India.

In the junior championship, in which 242 players participate, at the end of the third round, 24 players shared the lead with 3.5 points each, most notably Yahya Al-Kaf and Hamdan Idris from the Emirates, Hasan Oryogov from Azerbaijan, Zainab Al-Maamari and Sindarov Islambek from Uzbekistan, Mishaal Al-Hejab from Kuwait, and Rami A student from Syria, and Domankezi Al-Farabi from Kazakhstan.

Yesterday, the fourth event of the festival was launched.

It is the Community Team Championship, with the participation of 34 community teams residing in the country.

At the end of its competition, which was held in the fast chess system, the Egyptian community team, consisting of players Bassem Amin, Ali Farhat and Fouad Al-Taher, won, and the team obtained 12 points.

Yesterday, three new events were launched at the festival, namely the "open blitz chess" championship with the participation of 160 players, the "juvenile blitz chess tournament" with the participation of 166 players, and the "demonstration chess" tournament with the participation of 40 players.
