The IIHF said they would not impose restrictions on foreign players performing in Russia

“The IIHF leaves the decision on sanctions against athletes for playing in Russia and Belarus to the discretion of independent countries,” Stephen Ellis, editor of The Hockey News portal, quotes him as saying on his Twitter.

Earlier it was reported that the national teams of Russia and Belarus will miss the next season in all tournaments of the International Ice Hockey Federation.

IIHF General Secretary Matti Nurminen said it was too early to re-establish contact with Russia at the moment.
