The French men's and women's 4x100 m relays qualified for the final at the European Athletics Championships on Friday in Munich.

The quartet made up of Méba-Mickaël Zeze, Pablo Mateo, Ryan Zeze and Jimmy Vicaut took second place in their series in 38 sec 17, behind Germany (37.97).

With Floriane Gnafoua, Gémima Joseph, Hélène Parisot and Mallory Leconte, Les Bleues won their series in 43 sec 24, ahead of Germany (43.44).

The first three teams in each heat and the next two fastest times qualified for the final.

The Italians, Olympic champions in title but without Marcell Jacobs in the playoffs, spared, narrowly passed the cut by obtaining the last qualifying place on time (39.02).

The 4x100m finals are scheduled for Sunday at 9:12 p.m. for men, 9:22 p.m. for women.
