In 1982, the German Harald Schmid won European Championship gold in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 47.48.

Since then, no one had run faster than that in a European Championship.

But now Karsten Warholm has done it when he took the second EC gold of his career.

The Norwegian was completely superior as he won in the fine time of 47.12 seconds.

The silver went to Wilfried Happio, France, and then it was a thousandth of a time for the bronze.

It finally went to the Turk Yasmani Copello who was just ahead of Ludvy Vaillant and Joshua Abuaku.

26-year-old Warholm now has two EC golds, two WC golds and one Olympic gold on his track record.
