Insane transfers, XXL salaries: for several years, the figures in world football have been racing.

While the transfer window is in full swing and Ligue 1 players have just returned to the lawns last weekend, what is really happening in France?

According to estimates from the daily

L'Equipe

published last March, a player in the French championship earns an average of 100,000 euros gross per month (78,000 euros net).

But the PSG raises the data.

Without the capital club, the gross monthly salary amounts to 67,000 euros (52,260 euros net).

The highest paid PSG players

In March, the average gross monthly salary of Paris SG players was 990,000 euros.

Unsurprisingly, the club controlled since 2011 by the Qatari sovereign fund Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is the most generous with its players.

In the ranking established by

L'Equipe

, the first 14 places were occupied by elements of PSG.

In the lead: Neymar, Messi and Mbappé.

Behind, the most expensive clubs in terms of salaries are Marseille (average gross salary of 226,000 euros), Monaco (185,000 euros), Nice (130,000 euros) and Lyon (120,000 euros).

The median salary (half of the players earn less and the other half earn more) was 40,000 euros.

Note the significant gap with female D1 players.

Among the two heavyweights of French women's football, salaries were 12,000 euros in Lyon and 9,000 euros at PSG.
