The blood clots were discovered last winter, after Sävehof and national team player Nina Koppang had breathing difficulties during a match in the Champions League.

At first it was thought that it was about covid-19, but it later turned out to be blood clots in the lungs, a condition that made it difficult to give any prognosis on when, if, and to what extent Nina Koppang would return to the handball court.

The answer to when and if was in any case in August 2022.

In a training match against the Danish club Aarhus United, Koppang was back.

"First match in eight months.

Grateful to be back and play with you Sävehof lady," Koppang writes on Instagram.

The match ended with a loss for Sävehof, 24–30.
