Alva Eriksson, Tonya Paulsson and the twins Nathalie and Emelie Westlund were the Swedes who competed in the all-around at the artistic gymnastics at the EC in Munich.

The competition also served as a qualifier for the team finals, which will be decided later in the championship, and the WC, which will be decided later this year.

It was Nathelie Westlund who placed best of the Swedes in the individual competition.

But the hope that she would qualify for the WC individually through a good result at the EC, did not last long.

Nathelie Westlund finished 20th overall, her best result came in bars where she was 22nd.

- I got through all branches without fail, so it feels great, a little wobbly on the bar, a few small misses, but overall I'm very satisfied, she tells SVT Sport.

Italy's Asia D'Amato won after a dramatic finish on bars where compatriot Martina Maggio was in gold position, but lost her grip and fell.

Maggio still took a bronze.

Sweden ready for the WC: "Fantastic"

It was a tense wait for the Swedish girls who were done with theirs already after lunchtime.

They needed to be among the top 13 teams to qualify for the World Cup, which will be held later this year in Japan.

Sweden was also 13th – thus ready for the WC, for the first time since 2014.

- Absolutely fantastic, says SVT's commentator AnnaMaria Fredholm in the broadcast.

However, one would have had to be among the eight best teams to progress to the team final, which is decided later during the EC.
