Qatar will face Ecuador on November 20 and the match was originally scheduled to be played the following day, which in that case would have meant that Senegal-Netherlands played the opening match on November 21.
But now it will be Qatar–Ecuador on November 20 instead.
The host nation has opened every World Cup since 2006, before that the reigning champion played the first match.
The WC in Qatar ends with the final on December 18.
