China News Service, Beijing, August 9th. On the evening of August 7th, Beijing time, the 2022 FIDE Conference was held in Chennai, India.

Arkady Dvorkovic was re-elected as FIDE President, and four-time Chinese women's world champion Xie Jun was elected as FIDE Vice-Chairman with a high vote. At the same time, Zhu Chen was re-elected as FIDE Treasurer.

  The FIDE Congress will be held during the 2022 Olympiad team.

Dvorkovic was elected with 157 votes, while his rival Ukrainian chess grandmaster Andrii Baryshpolets got 16 votes, and another candidate, Frenchman Bachar Kouatly announced his withdrawal from the race before voting began.

  Four-time women's world champion Xie Jun, who ran for China on behalf of China, stood out among the thirteen candidates for vice-chairmanship and won the first vote to be elected vice-chairman of FIDE.

  Five-time World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand will serve as FIDE Vice-President (can act as Chairman), and former Women's World Champion Zhu Chen will continue to serve as FIDE Treasurer.
