Last year, Maja Åskag broke through with a bang when she won gold in both the junior EC and junior WC in both the triple jump and the long jump.

Now she has her first gold in a senior championship.

Åskag, who previously had five podium places in the senior SC, won the women's long jump - in competition with, among others, world star Khaddi Sagnia.

13 centimeters longer than personal best

Åskag's longest jump came in the last round, when victory was already secured.

Then she reached a whopping 6.73 – 13 centimeters longer than her personal best.

But since the tailwind was a full 4.4 meters per second, it does not count as an official personal record.

- She has a great competition, says SVT Sports expert Alhaji Jeng.

- To get this confidence boost, it's timely before the EC, he says further.

Khaddi Sagnia didn't quite get it right, but stopped at 6.57, which compares to her year's best of 6.95.
