In the elections, Dvorkovich defeated the Ukrainian candidate Andrei Barishpolets.

During the voting, which took place in the Indian city of Chennai, the Russian received 157 votes, and Barishpolets - 16. Dvorkovich has been in charge of FIDE since 2018.

Recall that the FIDE ethics commission suspended Sergey Karyakin from participating in competitions under the auspices of the organization due to support for a special operation in Ukraine for six months.

The period of disqualification is counted from March 21.

Earlier it was reported that Karjakin plans to challenge the FIDE sanctions in a civil court.
