UEFA's disposition was in response to the actions of Fenerbahce home fans during the 2022-2023 UEFA Champions League second qualifying match between Fenerbahce and Dynamo Kiiu (Ukraine) held at the Shukru Sarajolu Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey on the 28th of last month. .

Criticism of Fenerbahce fans' actions in the face of Ukraine's suffering a Russian invasion has fueled criticism, and UEFA immediately launched an investigation.



Fenerbahçe also issued a statement saying, "The actions of some fans do not represent the position of the club and we are firmly opposed to the war in Ukraine."



Still, the action in question lasted only 20 seconds, and even claimed that the crowd was excited by Kiiu's exaggerated celebrations.



In the end, however, Fenerbahce could not avoid a UEFA ban.



Fenerbahce lost 2-1 after overtime in the second leg at the time and failed to advance to the finals of the tournament.
