Lewandowski, after his official presentation in Barcelona: I know the extent of the challenge ahead (video)

Polish international striker Robert Lewandowski confirmed that he was aware of the "great challenge awaiting" in Barcelona, during his official presentation today at the "Camp Nou" stadium, a week before the start of the Spanish Football League.

The 33-year-old, who signed last month from Bayern Munich for about 50 million euros, was revealed as a Barcelona player alongside club president Joan Laporta.

"I'm very proud to be here... It's a big challenge, not only as a striker but also to push the other players to give their best," the famous scorer said during the press conference.

"I know that the last period has not been easy for the club... But I know that I can be much better in the future with this team. We have huge potential."

Lewandowski joins Barcelona in the midst of a financial crisis during which the club has accumulated debts estimated at about one billion euros.

He was presented on the pitch in front of some fans who gathered in the stands, wearing the number 9 on his back, which was owned by Dutchman Memphis Depay last season.

Lewandowski joined Bayern in 2014 and scored 344 goals with him in 375 official matches, breaking the record for the number of goals scored in a single season in the German League and winning the FIFA World Player of the Year award twice.

But it left the German champions in a tense atmosphere after a dispute over the new contract as well as a lack of understanding with coach Julian Nagelsmann over tactical options.

Lewandowski made his debut with the Blaugrana on July 24 in the Clasico against rivals Real Madrid, which Barcelona won 1-0 in Las Vegas.
