Al-Ahly withdraws from the two cup championships and completes the Egyptian League with “juniors”

Al-Ahly Club decided yesterday to withdraw from the Egypt Cup and the Super Cup, as well as to complete the Egyptian Football League competitions with young players and those returning from injury, in protest against the repeated arbitration errors against him.

Al-Ahly tied with its guest, Farko, on Wednesday, in the twenty-eighth stage, in a meeting that saw the cancellation of a goal for offside nearly twenty minutes before the end, after returning to the video assistant referee (VAR).

Al-Ahly is in third place in the league, 10 points away from its historic rivals, the defending champion, Zamalek, six stages before the end, and has a postponed match against Ismaili.

After its meeting, Al-Ahly’s board of directors issued a statement of several decisions, in which it stated that it had decided “to complete the Egyptian League matches with juniors, and players returning from injury.”

He continued, "the demand for the dismissal of the referees committee, which has lost its integrity and credibility," in addition to "stopping the VAR referee in the last Al-Ahly match," international Mahmoud Ashour, "until he is investigated for what he did."

The club, which won 42 league titles (a record), also announced, "not to participate in the competitions organized by the Egyptian Football Association (Egypt Cup - the Egyptian Super) until the demands of Al-Ahly club are implemented."
