Sweden went out in the EC semi-finals against the champions England.

The 0-4 loss also leaves a bitter aftertaste in the form of a lost ranking.

From having been in second place, Sweden drops to third place.

At the same time, Germany flies up and takes Sweden's second place, from having been fifth in the ranking.

England's EC win also sees them move up to fourth place, from being eighth previously.

Taking Sweden's place

Germany's final place means they climb three places and take over second place from Sweden.

The USA won the Central North American Championships in July – their version of the EC – and remains world number one.

Sweden's neighbors Norway and Denmark's group failure mean that they drop two places each, 13th and 17th respectively.
