Al-Ahly decided to withdraw from the Egyptian Cup and the local super match, and to complete the Premier League with juniors and players returning from injury, in protest against the arbitration, after he moved away from the struggle for the league title.

Al-Ahly also demanded, after a meeting of its board of directors, today, Thursday, the dismissal of the referees committee, which he said had “lost its integrity and credibility,” and the suspension of the video assistant referee in his last match against Farko “until he is investigated for what he did.”

Yesterday, Wednesday, Al-Ahly and its guest Farco ended in a 0-0 draw, and the referee Ahmed Al-Ghandour canceled a goal for the Red Team, scored by South African Percy Tau for offside, based on a controversial decision by the video assistant referee (VAR) Mahmoud Ashour.

The result of the Al-Ahly and Farco match contributed to reducing the chances of the red team in the competition for the league title this season, as it remained in third place in the competition’s standings, 10 points behind its traditional rival, Zamalek (leader), 6 stages before the end of the season.

Al-Ahly, who tied without goals in the last round with the "Arab Contractors", has one game postponed, but winning only two matches in the last 5 matches kept it from competing for the title.

After the match, Al-Ahly coach Ricardo Suarez defended his players, and blamed stress and injuries for the goalless draw.

The historical champion of the Egyptian League has presented modest levels since the appointment of Soares instead of South African Pitso Mosimane at the end of last June.

Al-Ahly was scheduled to meet its rivals, Zamalek, in the Egyptian Super Cup in Abu Dhabi on October 28, while it was scheduled to meet Egypt for clearing in the round of 16 of the Egyptian Cup on August 14.
