Emma Sralla took gold in the JVM in the discus in superior style with 56.15.

Afterwards, she was undeniably lyrical.

- I told my teammates that I wasn't going to celebrate.

But when I saw their reactions, I couldn't help myself and I exploded.

I didn't realize I was world champion until my team said it.

I went completely crazy, she says.

Made like Duplantis

Emma Sralla grew up in Texas with an American father and Swedish mother.

With double passes, she has, just like the pole vaulter Armand Duplantis, chosen to compete for Sweden.

- It feels fantastic.

I have made my family in the US proud, but also many people in Sweden proud, it is incredible to have so many supporters, she says.

Paying tribute to Swedish throwers

After the gold, she chose to pay tribute to her Swedish discus colleagues.

- It's such a nice stage to enter. Swedish throwers have been so dominant in recent years and it means so much to me to be part of such a fantastic group of elite throwers.

I can't even explain how exciting it is.
