The Emirati champion Zayed Al Kathiri won the silver medal in the featherweight category (56 kg) for the black belt for professionals within the activities of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship in its current tour in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Al Kathiri's crowning the silver medal came after strong competitions on the third day of this round of the championship, which witnessed the fights in the black belt for professionals and the black/brown belts for women.

In light featherweight (-56 kg), Brazilian Yuri Hendrix won the gold medal after narrowly beating champion Zayed Al Kathiri in the final bout, ending the match with Al Kathiri winning the silver and the other Brazilian Jonas Vasconcelos taking third place.

The Brazilian Leonardo Mario won the gold medal in the featherweight (-62 kg) after defeating his compatriot Mateus Lima in the final, and the other Brazilian, Jonathan Angelem, won the third place.

And in the middleweight (-85 kg), Brazilian Jansen Ramos needed five matches to win the gold with his victory in the final against his compatriot Rafael Paganini, while the third place went to the other Brazilian Gabriel Costa.

Brazilians Ryder Amaral, Gabriel Oliveira and Pedro Sousa also monopolized the top three places in the light heavyweight category (-94 kg).

In the heavyweight category (-95 kg), the podium places were held by Brazilian stars Gabriele Basinha, Ingrid Souza and Wilma Moreira.

At the country level, the UAE ranked second behind Brazil, while Argentina came third.

The first place at the level of academies went to "GF Team", followed by "Commando Group" and "Vision BGG" academies in the second and third places.

The next round of the tournament will be held in Miami, USA, on the 27th and 28th of this month.
