5 UAE Karate harvest medals at the opening of the Arab Championship

Yesterday, the national karate team won 5 colorful medals (3 gold and 2 bronze), on the first day of the Arab Championship for men and women, which is currently being held at the stadium of the Egyptian capital, Cairo. Nine Arab teams are competing for their titles.

The first gold medal came in the men’s singles “Kata” competitions, with the team’s player Marwan Al Mazmi winning first place, before Hawara Al-Ajmi added the second medal by winning the women’s singles “kumite” women’s under 50 kg competitions, and Fatima Khaseef completed her third gold medal by winning the competitions. Women's Singles Kumite, weighing under 68 kilograms.

Ahmed Salem Basalib won the kumite bronze in the men's individual under 67 kilograms, before the curtain came down with Muhammad Jassim al-Ansari winning the bronze in the men's individual kumite under 75 kilograms.

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Karate Federation and head of the team’s delegation to the Arab Championship in Cairo, Dr. Abdullah Saif Al-Nadi, expressed his happiness with the achievement of the UAE champions on the opening day, and said in a press statement: “The opening day’s ceremony with strong competitions in light of the participation of Arab players who are among the world’s top ranked in many From the categories, before the UAE champions managed to win three gold and two bronze medals, the team qualified to enter a contender for the top spot in the championship.”

He added: "I would like to thank our players, our players and the technical staff of the national team for their dedication over the past period in training, which resulted in a clear brilliance in the Arab world of Cairo."
