The International Football Association "FIFA" (FIFA) revealed that more than half a million people registered in the 2022 World Cup volunteer program in Qatar, a significant increase, after the number was 100,000 people in October of last year.

The International Federation confirmed, in a statement, that the increase in the number of registrants in the volunteer program is a clear evidence of the passion and enthusiasm with the approach of the tournament, which begins on November 21 and will continue until December 18.

The President of the International Federation, Gianni Infantino, expressed his happiness with the large increase in the number of people registered in the volunteering program, describing the unprecedented rise in the number of people joining the volunteering platform as a wonderful thing.

In a statement to FIFA, Infantino said, "The volunteer platform has become a true global community, in a clear indication of the great interest in participating in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar at the end of this year," noting the main role that volunteers play in tournaments with their great activity, as they add a special atmosphere and contribute their time and expertise. To ensure the continuation of progress and prosperity in football, after they assured everyone of their commitment and love for the game of football with this great turnout.

In turn, FIFA Secretary-General Fatma Samoura confirmed that the volunteers are part of the continuity of the prosperity of football, and thanks to them, the great popularity of the game and the extent of the fans' love for it can be felt, after reaching this achievement very quickly.

The largest proportion of volunteers, according to the statement, was from regions close to Qatar, with Asians accounting for 43.2% compared to 40% from Africa, while English speakers are the most among the candidates with 94.4%.

The percentage of employees from volunteers is 53.1%, at a time when young people lead the largest percentage in terms of age groups, as 42.9% of volunteers are between 24 and 34 years old.

Registration for the World Cup Qatar Volunteers Program will close next Sunday, corresponding to the end of this month, and volunteer interviews will end by August 13, 100 days before the start of the tournament, and anyone who is at least 18 years old can apply through the special website by volunteering.

The volunteer program, which was revived in December 2020, is the largest of its kind in the world of sport, as it allows every registered volunteer to apply to participate in the remaining FIFA tournaments.
