According to L'Équipe, Fédération Internationale de Football Association has informally raised the issue with several European national confederations about moving the 2023 World Cup from July–August when it is winter in the southern hemisphere, to later autumn, closer to summer in Australia and New Zealand, which host the World Cup.

The French newspaper states that there is less interest from the television companies in broadcasting from the World Cup because the World Cup is played in the early mornings and that it is holiday time in Europe.

By moving the WC, you would also get more daylight.

In a short statement to AFP, the Australian Football Association writes that it continues to plan ahead of the World Cup starting as planned on July 20.

The WC will be played in five cities in Australia and four in New Zealand.
