She becomes the first double stage winner on the Women's Tour de France.

Dutch Lorena Wiebes won the 5th stage in a bunch sprint between Bar-Le-Duc and Saint-Dié-Des-Vosges.

She is ahead of world champion Elisa Balsamo and yellow jersey Marianne Vos.

The day after the stressful white paths stage, the peloton had a quiet day, on the 175.6 km between Bar-Le-Duc and Saint-Dié-Les-Vosges, the longest stage of the 2022 edition. So long that the organizer had to request an exemption from the International Cycling Union because events of more than 160 kilometers are theoretically prohibited for women.

The stage followed the classic scenario of long flat stages.

The peloton let slip a morning breakaway, made up of four riders – Victoire Berteau (Cofidis), Antri Christoforou (Human Powered Health), Emily Newsom (EF Education-Tibco-SVB) and Anya Louw (AG Insurance-NXTG) –, before to take it back in the last kilometres.

The victory was decided during a massive sprint.

The Frenchwoman will be able to console herself with the Combativeness Prize.

Only a massive crash that occurred 46 kilometers from the finish disturbed the calm of the stage.

Occurring in the middle of the peloton, the fall took several dozen runners to the ground.

Many bikes and bodies piled on top of each other, an impressive picture.
